
Given the importance of research in the mandate of the Institute for Cognitive Science Studies (ICSS), it possesses a number of the cutting-edge, specialized laboratories, hardware and software, some of which are unique in Iran. They include, for example, equipment that enables researchers to study memory, assess cognitive and intellectual capacities of patients’ with brain injuries or addiction problems, and monitor behaviors of subjects under various circumstances. In this regard, the institute also has cooperation agreements with some individual experts and universities to conduct joint studies.

In recent years, ICSS expanded its laboratories both spatially and in terms of equipment partly in order to accommodate the research facilities required by its growing number of Ph.D. and Master’s students. The new equipment acquired included TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), EMG , and 32-channel EEG (electroencephalograph), whereas the purchase of a unit of fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) is also in under consideration for a near future. |
